Dis-Chem Pharmacies is offering a job opportunity for a Store Driver at their Greystone Crossing location. In this role, you’ll be responsible for delivering goods to customers efficiently, on time, and in a professional manner. You’ll also ensure that deliveries meet The Local Choice Corporate Stores’ high-quality standards, maintaining a positive experience for customers while representing the brand.

You will also be required to perform the duties below:

• Transport products safely to customer locations in a timely, courteous, and secure manner.
• Be willing to learn various dispatch functions as needed
• Ensure the right products are delivered to the correct customer within the agreed timeframe
• Prioritize fridge line deliveries, using cooler boxes and cold packs to maintain the required temperature
• Choose the quickest and most efficient route to deliver products to customers and return to the store
• Return to the store promptly after each delivery to ensure the vehicle is available for additional deliveries
• Repack the vehicle after every delivery to secure boxes and prevent damage to the stock or vehicle
• Take full responsibility for any damages or losses during the delivery process
• Handle fragile and hazardous products with extra care during delivery
• Meet the company’s efficiency and accuracy standards to ensure high-quality service
• Follow delivery and pickup instructions provided by the manager
• Ensure proper checking, signing, and returning of collections, store returns, or inter-branch items to the receiving area
• Get all necessary signatures on delivery paperwork upon delivery
• Verify customer names and addresses are correct before delivery
• Ensure all invoices are logged properly on the delivery log sheet and readily available
• Ensure all invoices are signed correctly, and report any discrepancies to the relevant manager
• Adhere to the company’s vehicle policy at all times
• Complete and maintain a precise vehicle logbook regularly
• Process payments for transactions through EFT or cash
• Never leave the vehicle unattended during the delivery process
• Keep the vehicle clean and washed at all times
• Inspect the vehicle for defects and ensure it’s in safe working condition before, during, and after each trip, reporting any issues to the manager
• Report any accidents or incidents involving drivers or company equipment immediately.
• Follow road traffic rules and regulations as per the National Road Traffic Act
• Be responsible for any traffic fines incurred during the use of the company vehicle
• Build effective and efficient relationships with both internal and external customers to improve operational efficiency
• Develop long-term customer relationships through timely and courteous service
• Maintain professional conduct when interacting with customers
• Report customer feedback (complaints, compliments, requests) to management and provide appropriate follow-up.

General Duties as Store Driver

• Safely and efficiently drive clients and/or packages to and from various destinations, ensuring smooth and timely transportation
• Ensure that you reach each destination on time, adhering to scheduled appointments or deliveries
• Take care of any administrative duties, including picking up office supplies or documents as needed, to support daily operations
• Research current road conditions, potential construction zones, and weather forecasts to proactively plan routes and avoid unnecessary delays
• Use GPS and other navigation applications to choose the quickest or most efficient route, ensuring timely arrival
• Be courteous, respectful, and professional when interacting with clients, creating a positive experience during transport
• Keep the vehicle properly maintained, fueled, and stocked with necessary supplies to be prepared for any trip or assignment
• Monitor the vehicle’s condition and arrange for repairs or maintenance when needed to keep it in optimal working order
• Regularly update and maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and any repairs to track the vehicle’s performance and service history
