About the Diageo Mechanical Apprenticeship 2026
The Diageo Mechanical Apprenticeship 2026 offers aspiring mechanical artisans an opportunity to gain practical workplace experience while completing structured technical training. Apprentices will work alongside qualified mechanical artisans and engineering professionals, developing the skills and knowledge required to become competent and qualified artisans within a manufacturing environment.
This apprenticeship is designed to expose participants to equipment maintenance, machinery installation, fault diagnosis, and repair processes within Diageo’s Supply Chain and Manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Support mechanical technicians during equipment breakdowns and maintenance activities
- Assist with the installation and assembly of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment
- Help carry out preventive maintenance on production machinery and systems
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and mechanical diagrams
- Inspect machinery to identify signs of wear, defects, or mechanical failures
- Assist with dismantling, repairing, and reassembling mechanical components
- Lubricate and maintain equipment such as motors, pumps, bearings, conveyors, and gear systems
- Operate and utilize mechanical tools including drills, grinders, spanners, and measuring instruments
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized work environments
- Adhere to company health, safety, and operational standards at all times.
Apprenticeship Requirements
Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- N2 to N6 qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment, systems, and engineering tools
- Mathematics and Physical Science subjects are advantageous
- Ability to work effectively within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Good mechanical troubleshooting abilities
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Practical technical aptitude and willingness to learn
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on mechanical tasks.
