The CoJ (City of Johannesburg) is offering financial assistance for academically-talented students who are currently residing within the Joburg city area. The CoJ (City of Johannesburg) Bursaries is a great opportunity for anybody who needs to seek monetary support in order to continue their full-time undergraduate studies. Candidates will need to be enrolled or planning to pursue their studies at an accredited tertiary institution based in South Africa. Awardees of the bursaries will be entitled to up to R40 000.00/year coverage for their tuition expenses, registration costs, prescribed study materials.

The CoJ (City of Johannesburg) Bursaries Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Planning to pursue their studies in an accredited institution based in South Africa
  • Candidates are accountable for finding their admission into an accredited institution
  • Bursaries are given for study courses that do not run for less than one year
  • Candidates can choose to renew their bursaries on a yearly basis – provided they maintain their stellar academic progress
  • Important Note: Postgraduate applicants are not eligible for the bursary.

  • Legitimate proof of your recent income
  • Legitimate proof of your residency within the area of Joburg (e.g. statement of water & lights, rates, and taxes).

Applications will be subjected to further evaluation and vetting procedures to verify the validity of candidates. Anyone discovered to be falsifying any aspects of their applications will be disqualified from the registration period.

Candidates must process their applications through the portal provided above. Submissions made through other methods, such as hand delivery or fax, will not be accepted by the selection committee.

Closing Date
Applications for the CoJ (City of Johannesburg) Bursaries must be submitted before the closing date on 15 November 2023.

The selection committee has absolute zero tolerance for late applications. Submissions made past the closing date will not be acknowledged during the registration period.
