About Barberton Mines
Barberton Mines is a historical mining site with activities that have been in existence for more than 100 years. These operations include the Fairview, Consort, and Sheba Mines, which are all located on the Barberton Mines property. These flagship mines are long-lived, high-grade operations that produce around 80 000oz of gold per year while maintaining a stellar safety track record.

According to the already known Mineral Resources, the Barberton Mines have a mining life of around twenty years. In June 2020, the team at Barberton Gold Mines reached the milestone of 3 million shifts without a death for the first time.

About the Barberton Mines Bursary 2022
Barberton Mines is offering financial assistance for bright-minded South African students who are pursuing Mining Engineering (BSc) or Mine Surveying (BSc). The Barberton Mines Bursary is an all-inclusive programme that welcomes people of all different backgrounds.

As an awardee, you will be provided with the necessary support to chase after your academic qualification. If you display exemplary academic scores and valuable qualities as a student, you are more than encouraged to give this opportunity a shot.

Awardees of the bursary will be entitled to funding that will cover expenses like registration costs, tuition expenses, prescribed study materials, a laptop (only available for 1st year students, accommodation costs, and monthly allowance.

Please be kindly informed that bursars will be required to attend to vacation work as well as a 2-year internship programme.

Eligibility Criteria

The Barberton Mines Bursary Eligibility Criteria are as follows:

  • Officially be recognised as a South African citizen
  • Currently living within the Ehlanzeni District Municipality
  • Has a letter of acceptance/legitimate proof of registration that’s relevant to the course that you are attending in the South African tertiary institution
  • Does not have any past criminal track record
  • Has been accepted as a full-time student into an accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Candidates will be assessed based on academic talents, medical fitness examination, and the fulfillment of all the above requirements.

Additionally, you will need to provide the documents below:

  • Proof of admission/acceptance letter from a tertiary institution – certified
  • Certified ID Copy
  • Application form completed and signed
  • Proof of residence not older than 3 months – certified
  • Certified Matric/Grade 12 results or recent academic records.

All these documents should be included in your application dossier. Incomplete applications will automatically be disqualified.

The information you provide will be reviewed by the whole selection committee, which will include you. As a result, you should double-check to ensure that there is no fictitious information. If there is any evidence that applicants are giving false information, they may be placed in a hazardous position.

Closing Date
Applications for the Barberton Mines Bursary must be submitted before the closing date on 28 January 2022.

It is possible to guarantee that your application is protected as soon as possible by registering as soon as feasible. However, this does not guarantee immediate success and is just designed to give you with a stable position during the recruitment process.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted by the selection committee. Candidates that submit their applications after the deadline will not be considered. All submissions submitted after the deadline, regardless of their substance, will be discarded without further consideration.
