About the Babcock Apprenticeship 2026
Babcock is searching for applicants who are in need of qualified practical work exposure within the Opeartions and Technical department with their apprenticeship. The Babcock Apprenticeship is designed to cultivate and maintain a pool of qualified, skilled workers who align with industry standards and support the company’s long-term workforce pipeline. The programme emphasizes not only technical development but also practical exposure to ensure participants are well-prepared for the demands of the field.

As part of the role, apprentices are expected to provide assistance to Artisans in both workshop operations and on-site breakdowns. This hands-on involvement allows them to gain direct experience while contributing to daily tasks. The apprenticeship also places strong emphasis on continuous learning, encouraging participants to expand their knowledge and refine their skills throughout the programme.

You will be required to perform the duties below:

• Support Artisans in workshop operations and field breakdowns
• Promote and uphold a strong culture of safety
• Follow all reasonable instructions provided by Supervisors
• Engage in continuous learning and skill development.

Eligibility Criteria

• Provide a Grade 12 Certificate with Mathematics and Science, each passed with more than 50%
• Achieve N3–N6 qualifications that include pure mathematics rather than mathematical literacy
• Submit proof of Science and Technical Drawing from an accredited Technical College or Technical High School
• Maintain a valid driver’s licence, at least Code 08
• Show a natural ability or interest in engineering fields such as welding or mechanical fitting
• Live in the Vaal Triangle region
• Demonstrate strong skills in both verbal and written communication
