About the Anglo American Plant Learnership 2025
Anglo American is on the search for applicants who would like to obtain theoretical knowledge and practical skills through their Plant learnership programme. The Anglo American Plant Learnership at Sishen Mine offers unemployed South African youth, with a particular emphasis on those from labour-sending regions in the Northern Cape, the opportunity to gain vital skills for the mining industry. This two-year program provides practical, hands-on experience in mining and processing techniques, ensuring that participants receive valuable training directly relevant to the sector. The program focuses on key areas such as safety, community development, and Employment Equity, aiming to equip learners with the tools they need to contribute to sustainable mining operations while fostering inclusivity and empowerment in the workplace.

To qualify for this learnership, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 35, currently unemployed, and not engaged in formal education. Priority will be given to individuals from designated Employment Equity groups, particularly those from the JTG District and other labour-sending communities in the Northern Cape. This ensures that the program is aligned with the broader goals of promoting access and opportunity for historically disadvantaged groups.

You will also be required to perform the duties below:

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations during training sessions and practical work tasks
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure a safe and efficient environment for the team
  • Actively participate in SLAMs, HPHs, and relevant risk assessments
  • Engage in training modules by attending both theoretical and practical sessions as part of the comprehensive 2-year learning program
  • Gain hands-on experience by carrying out supervised tasks in plant and mining operations, including machinery operation, processing/mining techniques, and plant maintenance
  • Assist in plant operations by supporting daily functions such as monitoring equipment, recording operational data, and resolving minor issues
  • Enhance technical skills by developing expertise in plant and mining processes, equipment handling, and production optimization
  • Collaborate with team goals by working together with plant teams to meet training and production objectives
  • Complete evaluations by participating in assessments to track learning progress and prove competency
  • Keep records by documenting training progress, submitting reports, and managing learning materials efficiently
  • Foster community engagement by representing the organization positively, especially in interactions with local communities and labour-sending areas.
