About the AECI (African Explosives and Chemical Industries) IETP Learnership 2025
AECI (African Explosives and Chemical Industries) is seeking for applicants who would like to obtain theoretical and practical skills in the IETP field. The AECI (African Explosives and Chemical Industries) IETP Learnership is an excellent opportunity that provides essential knowledge and skills for entering the industry. The program follows a well-organized curriculum that blends classroom-based learning with hands-on experience in a real work environment. With support from experienced training professionals, you’ll be expected to make significant progress as you work toward earning a recognized qualification.
You will be required to perform the duties below:
- Oversee the effluent treatment process using the PLC system to ensure proper operation
- Report any unusual or faulty conditions to the Operations Supervisor, and contact the relevant departments—such as Fitters, Electricians, or Instrument Technicians—to resolve the issue
- Collect additional samples as needed, including customer composite retainer samples, for quality monitoring
- Regularly check the sludge drying beds and manually remove dried sludge for disposal into designated waste skips
- Conduct routine plant inspections and promptly notify the Plant Supervisor of any irregularities or concerns
- Prepare work areas and manage the authorisation of safety clearances, including standard, hot work, and confined space permits, depending on the nature of the task
- Perform the required gas testing in confined spaces before issuing a clearance for entry or work
- Coordinate with the waste disposal service provider to schedule the removal and replacement of full sludge skips
- Communicate with customers when incoming wastewater does not meet the agreed specifications, and take appropriate action
- Be competent in both issuing and receiving work clearances for operational and maintenance tasks
- Monitor incoming wastewater streams, conduct sampling, and carry out necessary tests to ensure compliance
- Uphold all company policies and procedures related to Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards at all times.
