About the Absa Job Vacancy as ATM Custodian 2025
Absa is seeking for applicants who would like to work professionally for one of the country’s biggest financial companies as a credible ATM Custodian. The Absa Job Vacancy as ATM Custodian requires you to process bank teller transactions accurately and timeously through the execution of predefined objectives, ensuring that customers are assisted promptly and in a friendly manner.

You will also be required to perform the duties below:

• Open and close the branch safe following bank procedures, ensuring it is physically secured as required
• Perform cash counts and visual checks as assigned by the line manager
• Maintain and store transaction records in accordance with bank procedures for control purposes
• Verify all transaction details for accuracy before processing, referring any concerns to the line manager
• Follow prescribed cash management procedures and limits
• Stay informed on all communications, including circulars, bulletins, risk agendas, and alerts
• Adhere to control measures to prevent fraud, losses, and shortages
• Report any suspicious transactions as per the Money Laundering control framework
• Complete and maintain teller and key registers as required
• Follow safety and security procedures, including robbery response protocols
• Keep cubicles, teller drawers, and workstations locked when unattended
• Adhere to offline procedures and comply with all regulatory requirements
• Manage security items such as cash, teller stamps, safe keys, combinations, and FBSS cards per policies
• Regularly update knowledge on policies related to teller duties, fraud prevention, cheques, and foreign exchange
• Stay informed on fault reporting and equipment testing procedures within the teller environment.

General Duties as ATM Custodian

• Manage cash transactions efficiently by monitoring and balancing your cash float throughout the day, ensuring accurate cash control at your teller station. Request cash restocking or repatriation when cash limits are reached
• Handle various financial instruments by accepting and dispensing cash, cheques, traveler’s cheques, drafts, and other financial instruments over the counter for walk-in customers
• Process cheque transactions securely by verifying customer identification, account details, and required controls before processing cheque deposits or payouts
• Stay alert for fraud by being vigilant for any fraudulent or suspicious activities. Report concerns to the team leader or branch manager before processing transactions or dispensing cash
• Follow security policies by adhering to all policies, especially when handling cheques, cash, and IDs, using the 2 ID Buddy system to prevent fraud. Refer transactions exceeding teller limits to an authorized official or line manager
• Ensure accurate system entries by capturing all transactions in the bank’s system and obtaining proper authorization before completing the process
• Double-check cash handling by carefully counting all cash received or dispensed using the branch’s cash counting equipment to minimize errors
• Reconcile cash daily by balancing your cash at the start and end of each day, as well as whenever cash is restocked. Prepare reconciliation reports for audits and management reviews
• Process manual transaction fees by ensuring journals are completed to recover charges for manual transactions completed for customers
• Comply with regulations by following the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) minimum requirements for all cash handling procedures
• Deliver excellent customer service by assisting customers with clear guidance on cash and transaction processes to ensure smooth and efficient service
