The ABB Apprenticeships will be conduced in Modderfontein, Gauteng, South Africa. The programmes are currently available for the following fields:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering.

Apprenticeship Modules
The ABB Apprenticeships will be conducted following the 70:20:10 model. This Learning and Development Model consists of a structured curriculum that combines the following aspects:

  • 70% Hands-On Learning
  • 20% Asking Questions
  • 10% Classroom Sessions

Apprentices will not only be equipped with technical, hard skills. You will also receive soft skills that required in a working setting. Therefore, apprentices will develop your own sense of professional identity throughout the programme.

Eligibility Criteria

  • South African citizenship is mandatory
  • Applicants must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Mechanical Engineering graduates holding N5–N6 qualifications are eligible for apprenticeship opportunities
  • Electrical Engineering students pursuing an NDip qualification for P1/P2 training are encouraged to apply
  • Candidates should have no more than two years of relevant work experience
  • A consistent academic performance with a minimum overall average of 65% is required
  • Applicants must possess strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • A growth-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, leadership potential, self-confidence, and a strong eagerness to learn are highly valued.
